Office Interior Design by Elding Oscarson

Office interior design of the world’s largest consultants, No Picnic, which is based in Stockholm, Sweden, is completed designed by the architect Elding Oscarson. This open plan office interior design is covers an area for about 1,100 square meters and it is progressed in 2010-2011. The architects’ client, No Picnic AB, wanted a large, open office spaces, a prototype workshop, a prototype showroom, several projects rooms and a striking customer area which is distinctly separated from the others spaces, and it is in order to maintain the secrecy.

The architect’s client, No Picnic, is one of the world’s largest design consultants which are covering the industrial design, product design and a packaging design as well as an art director, consumer insight and architecture. Based on the client order, they wanted an open office spaces, a prototype workshop, a prototype showroom, several project rooms and a striking customer area which is distinctly separated from the others office spaces in order to maintain secrecy.

To achieve this order, the client had found a group of 19th Century buildings which is located in central Stockholm. This building is mainly consisting of two volumes, one originally an exercise hall for the troops, and the other once a stable for the police horses. This building had been converted into showroom in the 1980’s and it was in a sad state. The conversion had to be sensitive, and the architect have evaluated in every step with an antiquarian, literally down to each new screw hole. Now this buildings is currently enjoy the highest level of the historical protection.

Office Interior Design Building

The architect wanted to get rid of all added layers down to the origin. The architect’s area able to peel the room naked in the old stable and just add a custom designed acoustical treatment along the walls. But in the exercise hall, the economy and the function demanded which a mezzanine constructed there in the1980’s, is kept. This mezzanine cut the hall lengthwise and it is crippled the experience of the space in an unfortunate way. This mezzanine is also edge coincided with the center of the hall, so the architect opted for the industrial designer’s own method, the way arbitrary but its symmetric shapes can be sculpted as half models onto a mirror. The architect can restore the impression of the entire exercise hall; it is achieved by constructing a delicate aluminum wall along its central axis.

The office meeting room which is located inside this metal membrane has large window panes towards the hall. The glass is seem like a mirror while the Meta is appears transparent, it is because the flat reflection of the glass appearing flush with the distorting metal surface.
